Free 20Mb database for website

Hi,

I can see how to add a Free 20Mb SQL database to Windows Azure Mobile service. Can I create a free 20Mb SQL database for website use, I see it is detailed on the pricing page for websites, but I cannot see any option in the management portal in the websites section or the database section to create this / these 20Mb SQL databases.

Update: I can also see how to link to the DB created in the mobile service in the Linked Resources. So not a hinderance I guess, just not intuitive to me.

I'm probably missing something simple :-(

Hello,

Please refer to the following steps:
1. Login to the Windows Azure Management Portal and click "Create A Web Site" on the Web Sites tab.
2. Click Custom Create.
3. on the DATABASE section, select "Create new SQL database" as show in the following screen shot.

Hi Fanny,

Thanks for the information, I did this and can see that the 20Mb DB is a linked resource to the website.

I would like to use website templates from the Gallery and Databases at the same time.

The problem with the portal is (unless I am missing something):

Custom create does not allow me to select a template From the Gallery.

The From Gallery option does not allow me to create a Database.

Kind regards

Paul

Hello,

Did you create a WordPress based site on Windows Azure?
If you select WordPress from the gallery when creating an Azure Website, you can only create a new MySQL database as Wordpress works with MySQL by default.
If you want to use WordPress with SQL Server instead of MySQL, you can try to use the workaround in the following blog to meet your requirement:
Using WordPress on Windows Azure with SQL Server instead of MySQL
