Hi Sainath, This is not due to 3rd party application error. It is a new thread which comes after I updates my WSUS server from microsoft. This thread now catch my client machine day by day. And I fix this problem by microsoft hotfix patch. But this pacth is not valid in case of my server 2003 R2.I think it distrub winshock services, svchost.exe. I temporarly solve this problem to auto restart the services. But I am trying to find the real solution, Yes this error also comes in safe mode.Regardsimran

Hi Muhammad, To troubleshoot this issue, could you please tell me which hotfix did you apply on the problematic server? Is it the hotfix that is mentioned in the following KB article? You receive a "Generic Host Process" error message after you start the computer, or DBCS attachment file names are not displayed in Rich Text e-mail messages http://support.microsoft.com/KB/894391 If so, the issue may be caused by DEP feature in Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack2. Let us try the following steps to test on the problematic server. Add svchost.exe to DEP exception list ================================ 1. Right click "My Computer" and then click "Properties". 2. On the "Advanced" tab, please click "Settings" under "Performance". 3. On the "Data Execution Prevention" tab, please choose "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select". 4. Click "Add". 5. In the open window, please expand the down arrow on the "Look in" line, and double click "Local Disk C" in the list. 6. Double click Windows in the window, and then double click system32. 7. Double click svchost.exe. 8. Click OK to quit. Please restart the computer to monitor if the issue can be fixed. Hope it helps.David Shen - MSFT

Hi Sainath,This will just exempt the svchost.exe from windows data execution prevention system that it microsoft provide security. This is true that after performing these steps it will never come again because we exempt it but are you sure that all other services like computer browser, server, distributed file service and firewall will remain up and in running condition, waiting for your reply Regardsimran

Hi Sainath,I already implement this method. First Method did'nt solve this problem.Second method solve the problem, but only first time. I means wheh I use this method and restart my server it did'nt prompt any problem. But when i restart my machine second time this generic host process error again prompted. Then again I use this method but it corupt my TCP/IP stack Protocol. Then I reinstall my Protocol stack. When I reinstall it again no message comes for 4 to 5 days. After 6 days this message again come, and same behaviour.Lsp Fix not solve my problem. 4rth method is not considerable. Becuase this error comes on my multiple machine.I download FIxit from unknown site. It solve the problem only forgeneric host and all services run properly. But I did'nt access other computers network share access. It totally stop shared resouces. It did'nt access my webserver. If I exempt Svchost.exe then what its advantages and disadvantages. I think if i expemt it solve my problem butI am not take any risk.Regards, imran
