I am using Windows server 2003.. The server runs for sometime (3-4 hours) and then hangs. I am not able to open any applications, sometimes even the Windows taskbar disappears. My only option is to power off the server through hardware button. On booting up, the following is displayed -- Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error signature - szAppName : svchost.exe szAppVer : 5.2.3790.3959 szModName : ntdll.dll szModVer : 5.2.3790.3959 offset : 0002a7ae The following files will be included in this error report: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER7528.dir00\svchost.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER7528.dir00\appcompat.txt how can i resolve the above ... my server is in a network and i wouldn't want network complications attempting to resolve the above.. Hello, Thank you for your post. We can troubleshoot an operating system with latest security patches , the reason is , after troubleshooting we might find a module/dll which is of older version and it would result in updating a security patch released by Microsoft. In order to save troubleshooting time, i would recommend you to first patch the server and check for the event. Second option =========== A clean reboot ( safe mode ) which will eliminate 3rd party applications such as Symantec .... and test if the issue is occurring.
