How can I get Windows Server 2008 DHCP Management Pack? http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dow nload/details.aspx?id=8770 is not for Windows 2008 DHCP

The link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8770

is only for Microsoft.Windows.2008R2.DHCP.Server.

I need "Microsoft.Windows.2008.DHCP.Server.mp" in version 6.0.6452.0, for DHCP 2000/2003/2008

Thank you.

With refer to DHCP MP version 6.0.6709.0 document, it supports primarily the DHCP server role of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and DHCP server role of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and its SP2.

You can download and install this management pack from The link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8770

No. As I Said, the link only lead to a msi file and after install it, only R2 MP is available.

Please test it yourself then you will know what I said is TRUE.

Only the following files are included in the msi.

Microsoft.Windows.2008R2.DHCP.Server.mp

OM2007_MP_DHCP.docx

Hi,

Your statement is correct, the management pack for dhcp 2008 (no R2) is available only for SCCM 2007 not for SCCM 2012, i am assuming SCCM 2012 doesnt support DHCP 2008 (no R2), checking some MS docs to prove that.

Hi,

Actutally, the management pack is for 2007 R2, but without DHCP 2008(no R2). It is previous version does support.

version 6.0.6452.0 is the last version which support  DHCP 2008(no R2) for SCOM 2007 R2.

Could you please advise how can I get that version mp? and if you can send me a copy of it?

Hi There,

There is option for you. But it is long and i think you need to do the below to achieve this.

The Windows server 2008 DHCP Management pack is available for MOM 2005. Below is the link for the same.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8770

So you need to convert this management from MOM to SCOM using MP2XML.exe.

Below is the download link for the MOM 2008 Resource kit where you can find the MP2XML.exe

http://web.archive.org/web/20060830164255/http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/4/b/d4bfc32c-d8d2-4541-8356-4c6359eecbb4/MOM2005ResKit.msi

Once you install the .MSI

You need to Run the resource kit in a Windows server 2003 server with .NET Framework 1.1 installed.

Also mainly you will need MOM 2005 Server to be installed in it to work.

Below are the commands to use to convert it.

I have copied the file to a new location that is C:\MP. So i have used the below command.

C:\MP\MP2XML.exe "C:\MP\dhcp2008.akm" "C:\MP\DHCP2008.XML"

Where: "C:\MP\dhcp2008.akm" - Is the input MOM 2005 MP

"C:\MP\DHCP2008.XML" - Is the output location of the converted XML File

C:\MP\MP2XML.exe  is the location of the converter

Also paste it with Quotes as it is mandatory.

Post you get it in XML you will have to Seal it and make it a MP file and use it.

I dont see any other option for you other than this.

Thank you Gautam.

I create and import the sealed mp successfully. But my customized mp which has the dependency of the sealed MP can not be imported because it can not find the dependency mp (which is imported successfully after sealed)

It seems the Sealed MP is not recognized as the original one.

How can I do next to import the customized MP?

Best Regards

Hi There,

What is the version of the management pack you sealed ? Also which version of DHCP Management pack that the custom management pack wants as its dependency?

Post me the results with screenshots.

Hmm. Looks quiet strange issue.

Can you go to the properties of the Sealed imported management pack and confirm if the id is correct / matching the management pack id ?

Ex: Microsoft.DHCP.XXXXX etc.
