ISCI Initiator issues
I have setup a LUN on my windows 2003 server to mapped on my NetApp Box, I copied some data to the LUN and took a snapshot on the NetApp box. the next step was to delete the data in the LUN and try to recover my data by restoring the the snapshot. To my amusement, I rebooted the server and found no drive for the LUN under 'My Computer', I explored more and found out that when I click on the 'target' tab in ISCSI initiator and check the 'Automatic restore this connection when the system boots' checkbox, the drive comes but still with no data i restored. I wanted to find out why the drive goes off after rebooting the server?

Hi,
Are you using dynamic disk?Reading this paragraph from Microsoft iSCSI user guide:
Dynamic disks on Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000
Configuring volumes on iSCSI disks as Dynamic disk volumes using the Microsoft software iSCSI initiator is not currently supported. It has been observed that timing issues may prevent dynamic disk volumes on iSCSI disks from being reactivated at system startup.
The use of dynamic disk volumes with Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 is supported.
Based on Microsoft iSCSI Users Guide
