Installing A KMS Client Key
Hi,
I have a new KMS host set up on a Win 2008 R2 server but I want to get my request count past 25. When I scan all my current domain PCs (we have a combination of Vista and XP) using the Volume Activation Mgmt Tool it shows all our Vista machines as having
a product key type of OEM SLP. Now, I have manually added our Vista KMS product key to the VAMT so can I use the VAMT to install a new product key (using the Install a KMS client key option) on 25 of these Vista machines to invoke 25 activation requests? If
I do this will I be using up two licenses on the one PC - the old OEM SLP license and the new KMS license?
Cheers

Hi,
As I know, we cannot install a KMS key on an OEM system. To install a KMS key on an OEM computer, you may need to reinstall the system using volume license
media.

After reading (even) more about activation with a KMS host it became quite clear that the process has nothing to do with license invoicing which was my main worry. I did successfully install a KMS client key on 25 of those Vista machines using VAMT and then
manually invoked KMS activation via VAMT and now I have my KMS host happily activating clients.
