Installing an application directly using the Windows preinstallation environment
Dear all,I want to use the Windows Preinstallation Environment to deploy windows 2008 systems over the network but need to install extra applications during the deployment process.I have successfully deployed win2k8 installations via Windows PE (with PXE) and was able to automatically add the machines to a domain and control some other aspects of the installation process. I now need a way to install my custom applications. Is there any way to do it?I would also like to know if there is a way i can make a full copy of a installed win2k8 machine so i can have a working system image i can boot from an ISCSI device.I have done some tests and was able to boot win2k8 from an iscsi device but i had to go through the entire installation process first. Is there a way i can do a single install and then change the image so it is automatically ready go be used in another computer (ie: change the computer name, auto join the domain, change the ip address and, possibly, install some extra software)?Thank you,Lus Silva

Hi Luis, You can boot into audit mode to install applications. Or you can use Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2008 to deploy the OS and applications. You can install the OS and applications, sysprep and capture the image. Then create an unattend file based on the custom image. After that, you can deploy this image using the unattend file to destination computers. Hope it helps. Tim Quan - MSFT
