KMS Setup Problem
Hi,
I setup a DC which also run as a KMS Host. I also have a ESXi running 5 2k8 r2 servers. I'm not able to activate the servers to the KMS host. I understand that VMs will not count in the KMS host (correct me if I'm wrong) but I'm in a closed network that
cannot activate over internet. Any help on that??
I also have another question is that the DC and KMS host is 2k8 r2 Std and I have some 2k8 r2 Ent, Win 7 Pro and Office 2010 Pro and Std. How can I use the KMS to activate them??
Thanks in advance for everybody's help.

MYousufAli,
Many thanks for your info. I read through the info from you but still have some problems.
1) I setup the KMS Host in my DC which is a 2k8 r2 Std. I setup several other servers in 2k8 r2 std and Datacenters (2 x Std and 4 x DataCenter). For those Std servers, I got the error message that the server count is insuffiction but in the DataCenter
said that they can't find the KMS Host. Is there any thing I need to setup in the Host in order to let different servers to activate to the Host??
2) I used the VAMT 2.0 to manage the clients, is that OK?? In the keys I input to the tools, I saw some of them are "GVLK" and some are "MAK". Are they correct??
Thanks.

which KMShost channel/group productkey did you install on your DC? "A" or "B" or "C"
You will need "C" channel if you want to activate Datacenter editions. Each channel is able to activate lower editions, so if you install a "C" channel key you can also activate ServerEnterprise, ServerStandard & Client(Vista/Win7)

GVLK = KMSclient productkey
MAK = not a KMSclient productkey so will not activate to your KMShost

Hello,
Can we open an elevated CMD prompt on machines that are failing and run slmgr /dli and report back with the output?
Slmgr can be run from a remote machine to collect the data. Slmgr /? to get the switches to run against a remote machine.Thanks, Darrell Gorter [MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. For setting up KMS for Office2010, refer here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee624357.aspx#section2
You can use your existing SRV2008R2STD KMShost for Office KMS too;
a) obtain your Office2010 KMShostproductkey from the VLSC website
b) download and install the Office2010 host license pack
c) enter the Office2010 KMShost product key when prompted
d) activate the Office2010 KMShost with MS
from here, it's the same as for Windows KMSclients. the clients will discover your KMShost and request activation from your KMS.Don
