The icon which you are seeing is actually for the wireless and it seems disconnected. To show the LAN connection Icon do the following Right-click on an empty space in the task bar and click "Properties" from the pop-up menu. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog appears. Under "Notification Area," click "Customize." Look for the "Network" icon by scrolling down. From the drop-down selection to the right of the "Network" icon, select "Show icons and notifications." Click "OK." The "Network Connection" icon now appears on the task bar. http://www.arabitpro.com

This icon will appear when you disable the wireless. Run the network troubleshooter. Setup the wireless network. If not solved uninstall the drivers, install the latest drivers. For Windows 7 queries, post here. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/ Thanks
