MS11 - 100 fails to install?
All 3 of these patches failed to install and they all generate the same err msg in the app evt log. I see a bit about VisualStudio8Setup in the app evt err msg. VS8 isn't installed on the server. Can someone clue me in on why these patches
may fail to install? If you need additional info let me know. This server hasn't had a problem with the .Net upgrades or patches being installed before.
We have 3 other Win2003 SP2 standard 32 bit - IIS6.0 servers that accepted the patches. One has Visual Studio version 7 on it, and the other two have SQL 2008 Standard on them. We also have 3 other Win 2008 R2 SP1 that accepted the patches.
I did some googling and found a few other comments about the MS11-100 failing to install. Some suggest removing .Net and reinstalling it, and then patching. I really would rather not have to do that this server has been very stable.
And\or the patch is flakey because MS rushed it out and to wait for a re-release of the patch. Maybe so but I had 3 other Win2003 servers that accepted the patch.

Sorry for the delay in replying.
MS solution - remove .Net and reinstall. I can't do that on this particular box so I live with it.
