Moving the Users folder to another drive
I have searched many places and have not been able to find an answer to this question for Windows Server 2008. Any help will be greatly appreciated.I need to relocate the Users folder from the C: drive to the D: drive. I am even fine with leaving the old users on the C: drive and all new users created will be under D:\Users. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. Thanks,Alex

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the post.
In this case, we could use the following method to move the Users folder by modifying the registry value.
a. Log on as an administrator of the computer.
b. Use Registry Editor to add the USERPROFILE setting to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
c. In the right panel, double click the ProfilesDirectory key and type the new path in it.
However, we dont recommend relocating the Users folder to another path. It may cause a lot of potential issues since the default value of system environment is changed.
Hope this helps.
