Hello, for a domain and Exchange use a CA is NOT a requirement. Exchange will use a self-created certificate to work and this must be renewed by yourself but do not require an own CA. If you need Exchange OWA you can buy a certificate from external company. Keep in mind that installing Exchange on DCs is NOT recommended for multiple reasons. Also a CA if you think about should NOT be installe don a DC. Both options are supported but even Microsoft recommends to use domain member servers instead.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hi, At first, I would like to say that the Exchange server has its own self-signed certificate, it doesn’t matter whether you have installed Active Directory Certificate Services or not. I think you’d better ask the third party certificate vendor engineer to deploy CA on your Exchange server; there is a link for your reference: Title: Unified Communications certificate partners URL: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929395 Note: If you use SAN supported certificate will make you deployment easier.
