In My Company has 50 employees. All employees are using their own laptops to browse the internet. our management requested me to block unwanted websites and try to reduce the internet usage... then I bought HP proline server and windows server 2008 standard. and configured Active Directory, DNS, DHCP..everything working fine. at the same time, all employees are getting internet. My problem is, To block the websites and to manage the internet usage, I could not get any idea from Server. Is there any way to handle this problem ? or My decision is wrong ? I am using Linksys router, it has no firewall option too... I can't bring my employee under domain control because of they are using their own computers...

The employees' laptops do not connect to the domain you set up the HP proline server is on the domain The linksys router has no web blocking feature If I am correct, it would seem the best option would be to implement a hardware web filter upstream of the lan that the laptops connect to. Have you looked at Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway? This would provide you the URL filtering you are looking for and additional anti-malware support as well. Forefront TMG will handle both regular web traffic and as well encrypted.
