Printer Issues - SNMP packets hanging?
Hi, i have been having a problem when trying to setup and share a printer in server 2008 32bit. The printer randomly goes offline. It can stay online any time between 10 minutes and 1 day before going offline. This is becomming an urgent matter. When the printer is offline i am unable to print. If i disable SNMP monitoring on the port, i am still unable to print Does anyone have any ideas? where to start? could this possibly be SNMP packets hanging or being lost? I have a D-Link 3226S switch which has an option for SNMP packet managment. Hes a previous post which outlines the issue http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/cb2b2c50-633e-4431-8fdb-2299a46f80c0/ Please could someone provide some assistance! Thanks!

1. Are there any traces in Event logs? 2. For SNMP you may need to open appropriate ports and set the write attribute 3. Network traffic analysis may give you a key to the cause. Regards Milos
