Question about how Offline files works
Hi.
I've been looking for some documentation on the internet about how the process of slow link detection on machines with windows.
I found the following link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/227260/en-us) that describes the detection process in windows 2000. I wonder if this still applies to the most current operational systems
like Windows 7, Vista, Xp.

Hi Jean,
No, These new operating systems implement a new slow link detection mechanism that DOES NOT use ICMP. The process is better explained in the below article.
Have a look at the below blog post.

Hi,
As iamrafic said, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 Group Policy uses the ICMP protocol to determine a slow link between the Group Policy client and the domain controller. The
Microsoft KB article you found doesnt apply to the new OS versions, because the new OS versions have implement a new slow link detection mechanism. Please refer to the article iamrafic provided for detailed information about the process of slow link detection
on new OS versions.
Here is an additional reference, we could also refer to the article below to have a better understanding of the new slow link detection mechanism
