Hi, Before going further, would you please tell me what does the sentence the child domain was taken from a non-recommended (formatting the computer is doing Dcpromo) mean? Does it mean you just formatted the computer instead of using Dcpromo to demote the DC of the child domain? If so, I suggest we try to perform metadata cleanup to delete the unavailable data of the orphaned domain. Please understand that metadata cleanup is required only for Active Directory domain controllers that were not successfully demoted using Dcpromo. Metadata cleanup also removes File replication service (FRS) connections and attempts to transfer or seize any operations master roles (also known as flexible single master operations or FSMO roles) that the retired domain controller holds. For details, please refer to the following articles. How to remove data in Active Directory after an unsuccessful domain controller demotion http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216498 Clean up server metadata http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc736378(v=ws.10).aspx metadata cleanup http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731035(v=ws.10).aspx Regards, Andy
