Replication
Okay i was doing a laboratory to see how this worked so i have this scenario
A single forest and single domain test.local with a 2003 server which is the DC
So i do this
i configure the site and srvices i create the 2 sites site A and site B
i create the subnets and assign them to the sites
i run forestprep riase funtional level to 2003 on the windows 2003 to win 2003 i run domainprep
So i though iwas ready
i went to my new 2008 server i install the role of AD i put the DNS server pointing to the win 2003k which is a AD integrated with dns i select existing forest in a existing domain, and everything is going good.. it detect he belongs to site
B cause of the site and sevivecs configuration everything is NICE
and then i get this warning
a delegation for this dns server cannot be created because the authorative parent zone cannot be found. To enable a realable DNS
dns name resolution from the outside of the domain you should create a delegation to this dns server manually in
the parent zone
Is there anything im doing wrong in my laboratory? what does this mean?

Hello,
it sounds for me that the Windows server 2008 DC is NOT installed as additional DC in an existing domain, instead you made it a DC in a NEW forest/domain, please clarify this.
If it should be an andditional DC in the existing domain you can follow:

nope the windows 2008 is additional DC in a EXISTING domain
Anways i jsut ignored thta and continue with the installation and its replicating with no issue but still i dont understand why i get that warning like i said i would understand if it was the first DC in a new forest and domain as there isnt any DNS server
and its pointing to himself that it doesnt have any
I invite you to do a fast lab with 2 virtual machines
Set the first one as a DC with integrated DNS,configure all the settings on site and serveices and then install the other one as a existing domain with integrated dns and you will get that message

Hello,
i assume you configred the server to use itself as DNS on the NIC and until that poinit it isn;t DNS server. make sure to use only the existing DNS server as preferred on the NIC.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

im doing not just do them and well okay its working... and leave it like that.
