Resource kit tools for 2008 server
Hi,on server 2003, using the resource kit tools, I was able to make a vbscript run as a service. I need to do the same thing on a 2008 server but I cannot find the resource kit anywhere. I've searched here, found an old thread with no info, and googled and there does not appear to be a version of the 2008 resource kit for download.Anyone have any info about the 2008 version of the resource kit? Could I use the 2003 resource kit tools instead?Vic.

Q:Why didnt i try?A:2008 is based on Vista and 2003 is closer to XP as I understand it so there is a strong possibility some of the tools do not work correctly. This is a production server and I dont want to mess anything up. We are a small shop and we do not have the money for development servers and the like.

Hi,
As I know, Windows Server 2008 Resource Kit Tools has not been released. Some tools included in Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools are now installed with the Windows Server 2008 installation and can still work with Windows Server 2008. However, others are not compatible with Windows Server 2008.

Hi,
Thank you for the reply. As I know, these two tools do not work in Windows Server 2008.
And sorry I cannot find a list describing what tools are included or work in Windows Server 2008.
As this issue is also related to development, I suggest discussing it in our MSDN forum for further assistance. They are the best resource to deal with development issues.
