In Windows Server 2003 Post-ServicePack 2 and Windows Server 2008 the Remote Installation Services (RIS) functionality has been renamed to Windows Deployment Services (WDS) More information:Step-by-Step Guide for Windows Deployment Services in Windows Server 2003

Great thank you for the reply,If I am understanding correctly, RIS is what enables PXE correct? Will Windows Deployment Services work the same way, to allow for remote installations of an OS?

Both RIS and WDS are solutions to deploy Operating Systems remotely and both feature PXE booting. However, differences exist between RIS and WDS depending on the mode (legacy mode, mixed mode or native mode) in which you install WDS. The previously linked Step-by-Step guide provides detailled information on installing and configuring WDS.

Hi,
Windows Deployment Services (WDS) is the updated version of Remote Installation Services (RIS). It enables you to remotely deploy Windows operating systems. You can use Windows Deployment Services to reimage computers using customized images.
The Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE) provider for Windows Deployment Services provides client boot services over the network. It registers itself with the WDSServer service (the main server-side service of the Windows Deployment Services solution) and requests a remote procedure call (RPC) endpoint.
For more information about WDS, you can refer to the following site:

Hope it helps.
