Switch Redundancy for Server 2003?
Hello, I want to get some servers at work setup with switch redundancy. I've been reading up on link aggregation but I cannot get a clear answer on whether or not it's actually supported in Server 2003. The end goal is to have two NICs from the same server into two different switches (we do have stackable switches), providing redundancy for the connection itself even if one switch (or NIC) were to fail outright. What are my options for getting this kind of functionality with a Server 2003 box? Thank you, Damien

My advice would be to forget about it. Iy sounds great in theory but, in practice, there are heaps of problems. The basic problem is that, if you multihome your servers, you have multiple IP addresses associated with each server name. The network will use whichever IP the name resolves to. How do you cope with that in DNS? Worse still, if a server receives a request on one IP and replies on a different one, the connection will fail.Bill
