System Reserved partition
Hello. To get backup software working all drives must have a letter. I see that my windows 2008 r2 has a System Reserved partition without a letter. What does this partition do and will it effect anything if I give it a drive letter?

Hello, don't mess with it, if it is 100MB only. This partition is used for BitLocker hard disk encryption and must not have any drive letter. It will be created during installation of the OS.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hi, According to my test, Windows Server 2008 R2 boots and Bitlocker Drive Encryption works after assigning a drive letter to the System Reserved Partition. But as “Meinolf Weber” said, it is not recommended to have any drive letter for the system reserved partition. As we all know, the hidden drive is much more secure and this system reserved partition is very important.
