Task Scheduler Snap-In Hangs
I have an installation of Windows Server 2008 which runs a number of daily scheduled tasks through Task Scheduler. A problem has started occuring that any time the task scheduler snap-in is loaded and the Task Scheduler Library is selected, the entire
Task Scheduler MMC console hangs and must be forcibly shut down.
A similar problem is occuring if I attempt to display the scheduled tasks using the schtasks.exe console application. When I run it with the /Query option it just hangs and must be killed with ^C. I just upgraded the server from SP1 to SP2
in hopes that it would resolve this issue, but it did not.
Any ideas of fixing this would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I will probably have to wipe the entire server and rebuild a new installation.
Thanks.

Hi ,
I checked the mstask.dll version on windows 2008 sp1 which is
6.0.6001.18000 , so can you check the version on windows 2008 Sp2 to confirm if the version has changed ?
Also when the taskscheduler is hang, the best troubleshooting step is to launch the sysinternals process explorer and check the stack for the loaded dll's , if you need more info on the files missing you canuse Dependency walker which would give detailed
information.
Also try manually registerring the dll to verify if it has loaded appropriately on to the add space.

I don't understand how this is an answer. I have the same problem. As soon as I click on the library, the snap in stops responding. If I don't select the library, I can actually go in and create a new task and save it, but I can never view
it because of the hanging snap in.
