Translate AD Object
Hi,
I have an AD that was installed in German. Now I have Upgraded the DCs to 2008 R2 English. I would now Like to Translate all the standard Objects to the English names.
eg. Domänen Admins --> Domain Administrators or Administratoren --> Administrators
Does anyone know of a Tool / Process that does that?
I don#t want to script one myself.

Hello,
cross language upgrades are NOT supported for DCs. And if you still like to work that way, you have to install the language pack.

Hi,
I Replaced the DCs with new English DCs. Thats Supported.
The Language Pack does not change the name of Active Directory Groups or OU Names or built in Users e.g. Gast = Guest . These are different in different languages depending on the OS language of the First DC that was installed.
In German it uses a lot of characters that don#t exist in english and if you are working with child doms in different languages that is a Problem sometimes.
I need to translate AD not the OS.

As far as I know, there is no way of doing this. On top, I think doing it may be a risky bussiness. There might be programs, scripts and others around that rely on the groupnames rather the the guid's...
Having windows installed in the wrong language can be a real pain. Micosoft does not support
migrating domain services to a different language version, nor do they provide "change language tools" other than the language packs who can only be installed on English versions.
My recommendation is always to install every server in English, unless there are very (very very) strong reasons for not doing so.
This recommendation comes too late for your situation but it points out the need for extensive planning before instaling important services as AD.
