Unable to delete print driver

Hi.

I'm try to delete print driver which is not being used on server but when I try to delete it I get error message saying Access denied or driver in use. We have rebooted the server and check and make sure they is no other user is logged in.

How can I check who is using the print driver.

We are using

Windows 2008 r2 server.

You only have access to deleting the driver.  You are not allowed access to the driver packages that are installed with the operating system located in \windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository.

For print drivers that are used for a printer connection, the user that has created the connection does not need to logged onto the machine to cause the "Driver in use" error.

You can have all the users on the machine log on and delete their existing connections which use the driver, delete the connection information in the registry for each user that has a connection using the driver, or delete the print driver information in the registry.  Any registry modification will require a print spooler service restart.

Did you get this resolved? I had the same problem with HP drivers and Xerox drivers.  Finally figured out that it was registry entries that were making it report that they were in use, even for printers that hadn't been in production for years.  I did a search in the registry for all HP and Xerox drivers. Xerox was easier to find since I had other HP items I didn't want to delete. Once the registry was fixed, the "driver package" removed itself form the driver settings on the server and then I deleted the folders. These old drivers were creating conflicts with newer drivers so they had to be cleaned up and this worked for me.
