Upgrade Server 2003 Standard SP2 to Enterprise R2
Hi everyone. We have a 2003 Standard 32-bit server with SP2 that needs to be upgraded to Enterprise for a software package that we will be running. It is our only server and is running AD. We purchased the Enterprise license and I downloaded CD1 and 2. Tried to run and it says that the current version is newer than what is on the CD. The CD doesn't have SP2 built in. I tried to slipstream SP2 into it and it then came up with an error that the file D:\i386\winnt32u.dll could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. I then tried to remove Service Pack 2. This also failed with the message ... The system cannot find the file specified. Service Pack 2 was not uninstalled. Any ideas on how I can get this up to Enterprise without wiping the server? HELP!!

Hello,Since your current W2K3 standard already have SP2 installed and you Enterprise dosen't have SP2, the standard with SP2 is considered as newer. Your option is to download/obtain a copy of W2K3 Enterprise with SP2. Call Microsoft or the vendor who sold you the license and ask where you can get an enterprise with SP2. An enterprise with SP2 or greater is the only way you can do the upgrade except you want to do a clean install..Also, remmember to do a complete backup of your system before you begin.Isaac Oben MCITP:EA, MCSE

Hello, use a 2003 R2EE with SP2 included and it will work. Talk to your reseller or check the web site, you didn't mention which one, where you downloaded it.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
