Upgrade to Windows Server 2008 R2
Hi,
I would like to upgrade my Windows Server 2008 Enterprise edition Sp2 to Windows Server 2008 R2Kindly let me know how will i upgrade?
Is there any backup is required?

Hi there,The upgrade path for 2008 to 2008 R2 is the same as for 2003 to 2003 R2. You can upgrade it qithout problems. Should you make a backup? Always.For the rest it is the same as a service pack installation.Hope this helps you.I've done this with 10 servers or so now and no problems what so ever with the OS or applications on it.Greetz,

Additionally, please be aware of that cross-architecture in-place upgrades from x86 to x64 are not supported. For more Windows Server 2008 R2 upgrade path, please refer to:

If you have a technet plus account you can download it from there. Otherwise you have to aquire a cd with license. The license for 2008 is different then the 2008 R2 license. Beware of this!!!If oyu need any more assistance let us know.Greetz,
