Upgrading Win 2003 Server Standard to Enterprise Server With Exchange
We are planning to upgrade Exchange Server's OS license from Windows 2003 Server R1 Standard to R1 Enterprise edition running Exchange Server 2003 version. I tried this before and it was very seamless but the server I upgraded doesn't run Exchange server. Is this something I need to consider or will it disrupt my Exchange settings and configuration if ever I upgrade the OS license from Standard to Enterprise?

Hi Lito,
As far as I know, you can upgrade from Windows Server 2003 Standard edition to Enterprise edition. For your concern about the influence on the Exchange Server which is held on the Windows Server 2003 Standard edition, the upgrade process should add some new components of the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition and it won't change the database of the existing Active Directory domain. After the upgrade to Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, the Exchanger servers configuration should be still there.
When you perform the upgrading process, it might temporarily stop the Exchanger service on the Windows Server 2003. If you still have question on the influence on the settings of Exchange server, It is recommended that you may initial a new thread in the Exchange forum. The engineers and community members there have more experience and can help you in a more efficient way.
