Have you installed the Linux Integration Services (http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=34603) on the Linux guest?

I believe that no Linux Integration Services installation is required on Ubuntu and Fedora as it is built-in the kernel.

Only after kernel 2.6

The Hyper-V manger application can paste text only, there is a little option at the top of the VM Console.

It basically types the txt into the field selected in the VM.

In theory 2012 R2 and the enhanced console should give true paste.

I am using Ubuntu Server 12.04 and Fedora 18. The kernel version is 3.8.

No idea why the clipboard is not working...

When you say the clipboard is not working can you confirm that you mean you've tried clicking "Clipboard" and then "Type clipboard text", and nothing has appeared in the Linux guest?

Whale's right about Hyper-V being included in the Linux kernel since 2.6, though I do wonder which version of it is included in the 3.8 kernel. From the details of LIS v3.4 it obviously provides the functionality that was new in Server 2012, but after a quick search I can't find any details of which version of LIS is currently included in the kernel, or if it just provides the basic functionality only. Anyone know what the situation is?

Yes.. That's exactly the case...

Same scenario and similar results. Running Server 2012 host with Ubuntu server 12.04 VM installed in minimal command line interface.

Can't copy anything into VM. Googled and have found nothing yet. May be the linux GUI may help. In any case I don't need it (GUI) in my project. I wonder to know if there is a solution to paste into VMs?
