W8K R2 std restarts every two weeks
Dear all I have a W8K R2 server which restarts about the same time every two weeks, I have checked and no sceduled tasks are running and windows updates are configured to download but not install. Other then this issue the stability of the server is ok and the server is licensed, all power connections are ok, and recently I have unplugged the server from a UPS and plugged it into a mains socket, the patterent of the restarts shows that the server will next restart this friday. I have checked the events and I see the following event in the system logs source - kernel-power eventid - 41 The nearest log I can find in the application log before the restart is source - CAP12 eventid - 4107 Failed extract of third-party root list from auto update cab at: <http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab> with error: The data is invalid. . The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

I built a new vm and installed AD, then I set the "Automatic Start Action" as "Always Start this vm automatically" and I set the "Automatic Stop Action" as "Shutdown the guest os" However I manually opened the vm and did a Start - Shutdown and then I shutdown the host server, the next tine I turned on the hyper-v host the guest vm started windows in System Recovery Options, I also added a 10 second startup delay.
