WSUS server and SOME clients
Hello all,
So I have configured a WSUS server on my home domain for learning purposes. I have configured a GPO that allows the client to appear in the WSUS server console.
The great news is that my laptops and servers all appear in the WSUS server console, however for reasons beyond my comprehension my desktop machine does not! I have tried several options including linking the GPO that has lead to success with the laptops
to the desktop OU, but for the life of me it won't appear in WSUS.
Any suggestions or next steps are grateful!

Hi,
How is your desktop configured, is it running WSUS? Also, have you tried
running gpupdate /force?

In what way do you mean configured?
I did GPUPDATE /FORCE, however it had little effect. I have moved the OU that has the computer in around a little bit, assigning copies of the group policy and I have got it appearing in WSUS, but its not reporting its status, despite other computers in
similar OU's reporting just fine!

Is there a way for me to check that a computer is using WSUS

Hello Jason Bennett,

Look at the log files Start Windows Updates’ gui. If you see the information “You receive updates: Managed by your system administrator”, WSUS is configured.

Just for a test:
Delete all machines from WSUS server console.
Run wuauclt /reportnow at the affected client and check if the client appears correct.
If the client appears now, there could be a conflict with a unique identifier due to cloning for example.
