What's nameserver?
Is nameserver is the same as a client computer or DNS server itself?

Hello, name server is the short from Domain name services server, basically the DNS server. BUT AGAIN please ask networking questions in the following forum http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverNIS/threads as this one is related to WINDOWS SERVER GENERAL problems and not detailed ones where special forums are made for. Thank you for understanding.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

Hello, Yes it is a DNS server. Moreover depends on your AD configuration you can have more than one name server and it can be find in DNS NS records. A useful info for your reference:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd145574Regards, Ravikumar P
