HiI am trying to schedule my VSS snapshot creation on a Win2008 server but it gets ignored.Setup: C: / D: / E;I set the VSS schedule for D: to "to havea snapshot creation every hour from 9am for 4hours."C: and E: are disabled.Unfortunately the snapshots getting continued to be created every hour the whole day for D:As I canreplicateit on two machines Iam wondering if this is a bug or do I missa setting somewhere?Any input would be appreciatedThanksRoger

Hi DavidThanks foryour feedback.I can add some additional info which might help your product team. The same issue exists if you try to schedule a normal task within the OS which points to a general problem within scheduling of tasks in 2008 and not just VSS scheduling.Roger

Hi Roger, Sorry for my delay. I have performed lots of research on this issue these days, I think you encounter the bug in Task scheduler that is described in the following article. This bug should have been fixed. You can request and download the corresponding Vista SP1 hotfix via the following link, and try to install and apply on the problematic server. I have test on my side, it also applies on Windows Server 2008 and it can fix the issue. The value in the Next Run Time field in Task Scheduler is incorrect on a Windows Vista-based computer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950035 Please let me know if it fixes the issue on your machine. Hi David Thanks for your update and all the work you are doing in regards to this issue- much appreciated! I can confirm that the same patch works on my systems - I tested it on a 32bit and 64bit 2008 Server (in VM-Ware) as you might understand I am not to keen to install a VISTA patch onto a 2008 production server. This brings me to my next question/problem -> I am unable to install a patch which is not marked for 2008 onto a production server as we document everything - I am sure you understand this.Question:- Will there be a seperate patch for 2008?- Will there be a seperate KB article for 2008?or maybe more simpler- Can the current KB article be adjusted to reflect 2008 as well (of curse only if the patch is the same)?Looking forward to your answerRoger

Hi Roger, Thanks for your reply. I deeply understand the concern. Since Windows Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008 are based on the same code branch same in the kernel, currently you can safely apply the hotfix on both of the system. The Knowledge Base article has not been updated to include Windows Server 2008 as applicable operating system yet. I will forward this problem to our document department to update the corresponding information. Hopefully it can be updated soon. David Shen - MSFT
