Windows 2008 R2 Foundation Server In Place Upgrade to Datacenter
I see that there is a way to use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool to do an in-place upgrade for Windows Server 2008 R2. But when I run DISM /online /Get-TargetEditions our Foundation server the only option is to upgrade Standard Edition. I need to move it to our Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter license. Any advise on how to make this happen? Thanks, Tim

Hello, AFAIK you can only upgrade Windows server foundation to Standard edition. After that step just do it again and you should be able to upgrade again. Keep in mind that DataCenter edition can be downgraded to Standard and then you can of course upgrade the edition to DataCenter again as the used key is of course not longer in use, so no licensing problem occurs.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.
