Windows 2008 R2 strange problem
Hi all, I have a very strange thing going on with a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 terminal server. Today it crashed for the 2nd time in 1.5 month and i now need to reinstall windows again. A few things happen before the crash: - The customers called me that the printers werent working, none of them.. when i checked it, i got the message: The driver for this printer is not installed, click ok to install the driver, i have to do this for all the printers to get them working again. - Later on they called me again saying that they cant open images with windows photo viewer, i cant find a solution for that problem. So the 2 problems occoured for the first time 1.5 month ago, and now again. If this was the only problem it woulnd be a big deal, but when i reboot the server while the above problems exist, the server wont boot up getting a 0x000007b BSOD. I've checked the hardware with DSET and tried to boot with only 1 memory or only 1 HDD, same story. Anyone else had a similar problem like this? Thanks in advance!

Hello Sheepson! 0x07b BSOD usually informs on an inaccessible boot device (mostly) When the server boots, in which stage do you get the BSOD? Have you tried booting with Last Known Good Configuration? Before the BSOD, have you went through Event Viewer?

Hi NachumElla, Thanks for you reply! I get the BSOD when the 'loading windows' image appears, allmost instantly. The automatic windows repair 'cant fix the problem' by the way. I've tried last know good config, doenst work either. I've allso looked in the event viewer but didnt find any errors. The servers works fine when the above problems are there, but whenever i reboot the server it wont come up. Thanks.

Sounds to me like a Hard Disk corruption to me. Please try to run: chkdsk x: /f /r Where X: is the OS's Partition. Please notice - while chkdsk is running on the OS Disk, the Server wont be Accessible, so please run when the customers are out of work. Also, please try rebuilding the BCD, as the Master Boot Record might got corrupted becuase of bad sectors: How to use the bootrec.exe tool And please can you give me more info about the server? manufacture, disk type, etc. Good luck!
