Hello, Generally speaking, Windows Server 2003 64bit can support more memory than that of 32bit. If you want to large memory that is over 4GB RAM on the box, I suggest that you use Windows Server 2003 64bit edition. For the memory supportability on Windows Server 2003 64bit, please refer to: Processor and memory capabilities of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and of the x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888732 The memory supportability on Windows Server 2008 is little bit different of that on Windows Server 2003, different edition of Windows Server 2008 can support up to different size of RAM. You may find the detailed supported memory information on Windows Server 2008. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/scalability-ent.aspx For general consideration on the performance tuning on Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008,you may refer to the following guides. Performance Tuning Guidelines for Windows Server 2003 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/performance/tuning.mspx Performance Tuning Guidelines for Windows Server 2008 http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/sysperf/Perf_tun_srv.mspx Performance Tuning Guidelines for Windows Server 2008 R2 http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/sysperf/Perf_tun_srv-R2.mspx Hope this can be helpful. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
