Windows Server 2003 x64 - JavaScript 'window.open' command executing in 32bit IE launches 64bit IE.
Trying to get 32 bit IE process to launch 32 bit IE process. On Windows Server 2003 x64 - A JavaScript 'window.open' command executing in a 32 bit IE process is launching a 64 bit IE process. I need to get 'only' 32 bit IE processes to be launched - I'm trying to run some 32 bit ActiveX controls that will only work in a 32 bit IE process. ThanksTech_Net_User

Have you downloaded and installed 32-bit Java version as described here - http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml?

How about the Microsoft modarator for this MSDN Forum? Any ideas why this might happen? Is this question posted in the right forum? Also, I've tested with a new/test web page I created that contained simple JavaScript 'window.open' command. And the 32 bit IE does launch another instance of a 32 bit IE. And this is exactly what I'd like to have happen. But when I browse the 32 bit IE to the "real" / "production" web page, a 2nd instance of IE is started and it's the 64 bit version of IE. Maybe an error is encountered when trying to start the 2nd IE instance and this error caues the 64 bit version of IE to be launched instead of the 32 bit version? Is that possible. I check file associations and if I click a file containing any of the following extensions, the 32 bit IE does launch (as desired): *.htm AND *.html. Thanks again;Tech_Net_User

Hi, I think you need to add the file path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe) to your Java script. If you encounter any difficulties when customizing the scripts or if the issue persists, you may submit a new question to the following forum which are the best resource for IE scripting related issues.
