Windows Server 2008 R2 DNS Lookup Fails
I have a box I've installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on that I'm currently using as my workstation until I finishing moving into my new place. Everything works fine until I try to connect to some sites like netflix.com, microsoft.com and yahoo.com. When I
try to connect to those sites I get a DNS lookup failed error in Chrome and IE. However, I can access indeed.com, Google.com and my college's web services. The issue only happens when I connect to a Cisco Valet M20 router with Comcast as my ISP. When I use
tethering on my Verizon Android device I do not get DNS issues, but as expected it is slower.
I've attempted these steps already:
-Disabled the Windows firewall
-Disabled the M20's firewall
-Enabled DMZ mode on the router for the IP address of the computer in question.
Nothing helped, but I admit that I'm not a networker; I'm taking stabs in the dark here. After a few days of tinkering I'm wondering if anyone here has some additional info that could help me out.
It's important to note that I have no problems with connecting to that router when I use my Windows 7 laptop or my old Macintosh. Also, after the lookup fails it will load if I request the page quickly after seeing the error.

Please provide us a ipconfig /all of that Windows 2008 R2.
Seem to me a DNS setting mismatch the one on the Windows 7. (you could compare both result to be sure)MCP | MCTS 70-236: Exchange Server 2007, Configuring

Hi,
Have you installed the DNS role on the 2008 server? If not, as Yagmoth555 mentioned, please check the DNS setting on both server and client side. Ensure the server preferred DNS server is point direct to ISP DNS server.
