Windows Server 2008 R2 only boots to Recovery Console
Hi,
I was bringing up a server this morning, and all it will do is boot to the recovery agent, giving the following options:
Restore a backup image, Memory Check, Command Prompt, shutdown, restart.
The strange thing is that there is a problem with the Server 2008 R2 installation on partition G: Windows is installed on C:, not G:, so where it gets that from, I have no idea.
I have tried rebooting the system several times etc, checked the boot order in the BIOS, run chkdsk on C: and G: (no errors found).
Otherwise, the only changes made were installations and configurations of Team Server and SQL Server the prevoius day (from which their installers were on partition G:.
Anyone have any suggestions???
Thanks,

Just wondering whether its a virtual machine ? If the problematic server which has been referred in question is a VM, then there are chances that, Windows OS ISO is mounted on drive G ( perhaps, G:\ is CD/DVD drive) and ISO has been left in the
drive without un-mounting the file and boot order is still pointing at CD/DVD drive.
If its a physical server, I would still suggest you to check boot order once again and set HDD as primary boot device. Also to isolate the problem, disable CD/DVD from BIOS for time being.
Disconnect any external media such as USB Keys, External HDD etc... Power off the server for around 5-10 min and then switch it on to see the results.
