Windows Server 2008 x64 Error - Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file
This is a thread i found posted to the Vista Announcements area on Oct 8, 2008. The thread was closed before the problem was answered; the moderator said to move the question to another area. I have encountered this exact same problem during a fresh install on a clean server, and I was not able to find the re-posting of this thread nor the solution. I am able to bypass the verification by disabling the Driver Signature Enforcement, but that is only useful for one boot of the system. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks---------------------------------------------Hello all.I have the following problem. On a Clean Windows Server 2008 x64, I have installed the following:1. Windows Operation Manager 2007 x32 (with Software Assurance)2. Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) 3.0 SP13. Windows Configuration Manager 2007 x32 (with Software Assurance)I then tried to install a "Roxio Software CD" that came with a new DVD-RW for my brand new Server.I don't know the edition or version of the Roxio CD Software (it is in the Server Room - and I am not there right now), but I assume it must be new since it came with a Server DVD-RW I bought in early August 2008.I first installed a WSUS update from Microsoft. Then I performed a full install of Roxio Software CD and got a popup that Microsoft Media Player 9.0 or higher is missing, but I ignored it & went on with the installation.I was then asked to restart the Server. So I did.Now I can not boot the Server!I get the following Black Screen: ---------------------------------- Start of Mesage -----------------------------------------Title: Windows Boot ManagerMessage:Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.2. Choose your languase settings, and then click "Next."3. Click "Repair your Computer."If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.File: \Windows\System32\Drivers\PxHlpa64.sysStatus: 0xc0000428Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file.---------------------------------- End of Mesage -----------------------------------------Whenever I restart the PC from the Windows 2008 x64 CD I am asked to Restore the Windows from Image. The problem is that I don't have a Backup Image!I also performed a Memory Check & Everything is O.K.I tried to Boot to Windows with every combination - i.e.:a. Safe modeb. Safe mode with Networkc. Safe mode with Command Lined. Last successful configuratione. Start windows normallyI really have tried all available options & I still get the same above Error. The Server seems to not boot at all!Any Ideas on what to do?I appreciate for your help.-----------------------------------------------

I don't know whether you've resolved this or not, but what you need to do is reboot the server, press F8 during boot, and then select Disable Driver Signature Enforcement. Once you get booted up, uninstall Roxio and everything else it installed.Paul Adare CTO IdentIT Inc. ILM MVP

This sounds very familiar. You need to get into the repair mode using the install cd.There put in the command: C:>\disable PxHlpa64That will set the driver to disable instead ofdemand boot startup. Also execute /fixbootand /fixmbr, to be on the safe side.Altough I'm not that familiar with the commands on 2008x64, I'm pretty sure thatwill do it. :)If the server starts up; don't just delete the file or -only- uninstall Roxio. There are other programs using that thing. What always served me best was deleting the service completely using the sc command; C:>\sc del PxHlpa64Just make sure Roxio doesn't get near it. Winamp is ok ...This posting is provided "AS IS" without warranties, and confers no rights.
