Windows Server Options
I have 7 TB of hard drives (mostly Western Digital 1TB and 1.5TB), a server box, motherboard, and all the necessary connectors. I will take my existing server, pull all the data, wipe it clean, and install a new server OS on it. Question: 1) What Windows server options (Homeserver, Small business Server, Server R2) would be the best fit? 2) And why (explanation)? Note: We have 3 to 4 people dialing in remotely - on both Win and Mac machines - and we like the remote access features to move large files around. I am on the event photography industry and needs server that will help me doing great in my business. I hope for your quick response in the inquiry, our existing server is getting sicker by the day and it needs to be fixed or replaced ASAP. Thank you in advance! Warm regards, Grace

It Would recommend to use Windows 2008 R2 server , its the much more easy to manage and gui with many feature loaded that are missed out in 2003 and earlier versions it has bitlocker , kerberos enhanced , IIS 7.O , SMB 2.0 , Network access protection , server core installation and Remote desktop with no compromise in speed !! i advice you to go for 2012 r2 Face the fact tat we all have plenty to learn about this field. Deal wit the failures, use tem as motivation, learn something new everyday. Claiming false credentials & phantom skillsets will not get you far, especially when 63248651487512645876531864 people in the universe know how 2 use the internet

Grace, A couple suggestions from a fellow photographer: Windows Server 2008 R2 would be a fine choice for the OS however I'd call out a couple quick points on the hardware: Before trusting the life of your images to this server you'll want to check the various components of your system against the Windows Server Catalog to ensure it's supported and will run Windows Server Well. I'd also recommend using hardware RAID (your motherboard may support it) to provide protection to the data you'll place on the serverDoug Kentner
