error 0x80070003
Hi,
since around two weeks around every time I try to install Windows updates in a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x64 I got the error 0x80070003 on every update.
Currently I have 14 updates to install, and only 8 of them installs fine. But when I reboot the server I got an error exactly when these updates are configured, and so Windows does a rollback. The result is I got again 14 updates to install.
I was checking several forums and I tried some solutions offered, but any of them has fixed the problem. I did also a checkdisk, and the problem persist.
A typical event when this happens is this:
Error de instalacin: error de Windows al instalar la siguiente actualizacin, error 0x80070003: Actualizacin para Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Edition (KB2661254).

Yes, this was the first method I tried :)
Then I also tried the method that use a .bat to register again a lot of .dll files. Didn't work.

Please proceed like that:
Reset Windows Updates componentsRun chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannowUninstall all unused programsPerform a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135Disable temporary all security software on use on this server
If this does not help then try downloading the updates and installing them manually.

I did it. I run the chkdsk before to write the first post here, and now I run sfc (few minutes ago). However, the problem persist.

Hi,
In addition, have you tried the below hotfix:
You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services

Try "fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\"
October 16th, 2012 7:01am
Thanks. The command was executed sucesfully. But there isn't any message on screen more than this.
And I'm still having the same problem: I can't install any update because all them returns error after reboot, and Windows makes a rollback.

Of course, there are lots of lines like these (or similar) that were generated today when I tried to install (yes, one more time) the pending updates.
I will appreciate any kind of help. Thank you.

Hi,
I was trying to install the updates one by one, and I just could install one of them. I've realized that if the update ask for a reboot after its installation, so the update is gonna be rollbacked by Windows.
I tested with almost all my pending-to-install updates, and I just found one of them that doesn't require a reboot. For this reason this was installed OK.
I'm still in the dark: I don't know what else I can do. I also disabled the AV before to install them, and I tried to install them with a different user (a domain admin user). But no way.

Just one information else: I run the Windows app for detect problems and present solutions to them.
On the first momment this app hadn't detected any problem on my Windows. But I clicked on the button to find solutions, anyway.
And suddenly the app told me that had found a problem, and had asked me for to send that info to Microsoft (togheter with some files).
Well, the problem has the title of "CbsPackageServicingFailure2". So, I sent this info to MS, but I'm not waiting for a response, of course :)
