Yes there is such a function in Windows Server 2008. However please noticed that it is not available if it is a DC, as there is no local account anymore.Shaon Shan| TechNet Subscriber Support in forum| If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

the domain controller, that is active directory? I should have hyper-V on the server, then the DC in a VM by itself and other servers in 1 or more other VMs? The password for the admin account can be stored in a windows client like reset disk and used to reset the admin password from a VM which is not the DC? The more I type, the more confused I get. thanks,

IF you have created a password reset disk, then,If you forgot your Windows password, you can log on to the computer by using your Password Reset disk. To do this, follow these steps: Step 1 : Click use your password reset disk. The Password Reset Wizard starts. The Password Reset Wizard allows you to create a new password for your user account. Then click Next. Step 2 : Insert newly created password reset disk into drive A , and then click Next. Step 3 : Type a new password in the Type a new password box, then confirm the password. Step 4 : In the Type a new password hint box, type a hint to remind you of your password if you forget the new password. Step 5 : Click Next, and then click Finish. The Password Reset Wizard quits, and you return to the Windows XP logon screen. but if not, then you should now DIY a password reset disk with 3rd party utility. To do this, follow these steps: Step 1. Login to a computer that can link to Internet. Download windows Password recovery from its official site and install it on that PC. Note that: there is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to a CD or a USB flash drive. Step 2. Get out the newly created CD/USB and insert it to the locked computer. Step 3. re-booted the locked computer (it's necessary for you to change your computer's Setup to make it boot from CD drive or USB drive) and then followed the process of instructions. Just a few steps, the old password was removed. Step 4. Setting new password. Hope to help you!
