Sorry I am not an exchange admin and I am only trying to use the SMTP service in my Windows 2008 server. I have an application which will send out email to the outside world. Right now, it is configure to use our company's smtp server which I don't have control of. I would like to allow the application to only send email to the people within the company domain, e.g. user1@mycompanydomain.com but nothing as. My question is can the Windows smtp service allow me to do this? Do I need exchange or any third party email program? If the smtp service can do it, what is the proper way to configure it? Thanks

The application properly doesn't have that control. The users of the application is allow to email to any user in the world. What I would like is to do is to restrict the email from the application to only one domain.

for this, i think you will need somthing like MS Exchange, or similar full-featured email engine, e.g. MS Exchange you can create transport rules which control/restrict message flows.Don
