service software
Can anyone tell me in basic terms the difference between the terminology "network service", "unneccesary service" and software.
Is a service just MS lingo for software or some element that helps the software run on a server? Or if not how do the 2 differ. Please low tech response greatly appreciated...

network service refers to a build in account used to run services, a service is a piece of software running independent of a user session (doesnt matter if anyone logged in or not). you can check on the services that run on your machine with control panel
-> administrative tools -> services

Software is an application which can be installed on any sever or machines. Ex – Microsoft office, Exchange etc. etc
Some applications require services.
For example Exchange. Microsoft office doesn’t need service or service accounts.
These services need to be run under an account called service account. You will see these service account information from
Computer Management->Services-> Log On As tab.
