the 64-bit question  (on drivers)
i have just installed server 2k8 and have some driver problems, i used the 64-bit version, and would like to install new drivers for sound, video and raid. however i am not sure which drivers to use, as there are no server-specific drivers, the choices are most commonly 64bit and 32 bit versions of either vista or xp. i am thinking vista 64-bit, but am not sure. if someone could comfirm this for me i would greatly appreciate it. thank you, humble student

Your best bet for now would be to go with 64bit Vista drivers. Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 are both NT v6.0 and share their codebase for a great deal. This is especially noticable for video drivers. If these drivers don't work you could (some people would say: should) contact the manufacturer of the hardware to get driversthat work withWindows Server 2008. Most serious manufacturers are already building drivers and some welcome beta testers. Some manufacturers however decide to wait for the final version of Windows Server 2008 or wait for the first complaining customers before they start work on drivers. Other manufacturers may decide a server platform will not need specific drivers (for instance sound drivers) for their hardware component.
