vpn windows server 2008
Dear Sirs, i am facing a strange situation. i have set up vpn on my network (RRAS NAP). when i am connecting to my modem router and ask to connect to the server the connection is successful. That means that the server is configured correctly . when i am connected through the internet connection is failing. i have allowed the pass through of the pptp lptp protocols from my lynksys modem and alsoi opened the ports 1723. please can anyone advice me what i am missing? 1. Specify, please, ports that you have opened. 2. If you have any logs from client computer, server and router, it may be helpful to place them here. 3. Try to seek the analogical problem in Linksys forum. It is likely that you find solution there. Regards Milos

Dear Nikolaospetr, In case of vpn of server 2008 / 2008 R2, VPN needs NPS Server. So,at the time you are going to creating VPN server, you need to have atleast one NPS server. What you can do is, Create the same computer as VPN and NPS (Install both the roles on same server). After installing the roles,configure the computer as VPN from the console of Routing & Remote Access under the administrative tools. now, go to firewall & disable it for the testing purpose only. if, your clients from intranet/ Internet are able to connect them self to VPN Server; then configure the port exceptions. Now, the same problem has been faced by me and got resolve by these above steps.Kamal Sharma
