'Restore Previous Versions' on NAS
My intention is to turn on System Protection on my NAS so that the Restore Previous Versions feature creates shadow copies of files on my network drive. I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium and my local drives are my only options for System Protection. If I were to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, would I be able to create shadow copies of files stored on my NAS? Thank you in advance.

I may be wrong about this, all I know is what the guy from EMC told me when he set up my device - if the device is seen by the computer as a local drive, using something like the iSCSI initiator the yes, you'll have all of the normal Windows options like Recycle Bin and Shadow Copies, but if it's just seen as a network device then no, you'll need a 3rd-party backup solution.

Well, I have a feeling you may be right about this. Thank you very much, you've just saved me $90.
