'Send to - Mail Recipient' not working as expected
I recently setup a Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) computer for one of my clients. Her email client is Windows Live Mail 2011. According to Windows Updates, the product is fully up to date. She would like to send photos by R-clicking a photo, selecting 'Send To', then 'Mail recipient'. She was expecting WLM to open a new message with the photo attached. That does not occur. Instead, a Window appears that states, "Sign in to Windows Live Mail (Windows Live Services)" It then asks for a user name and password as though it is asking for the user's Live ID. In fact, the user doesn't have a Live ID and is not interested in any online services. She doesn't have a Hotmail account, nor does she want one. Registry: I did run regedit and checked the following subkey: HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail. The Default value was empty. So I entered the value "Windows Live Mail". I then closed and reopened the WLM client and tried again. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. Are there other steps I must take to correct this problem? I look forward to your response(s).

Hi, Based on my test, if you want use WLM to open a new message with the photo attached, username and password is necessary. You’d better register a live mail ID. Dear Leo, Thanks for your reply. I posted in this forum only after asking TechNet live chat. I did want feedback from a managed forum. But I will take your advise and repost in the Windows Live Solution Center. I will also continue to monitor here just in case. Finally, I will follow your recommendation and create a Live mail ID for the client and see if I can get it to work. Regards, DHK2

Dear Leo, First, the issue is now resolved. However, it wasn't resolved by creating a Live ID. The user did not want to create a Live ID. So the issue was resolved another way. 1. She created a new message in WLM first. 2. Then clicked the paper clip (Attach) along the ribbon. 3. Finally, navigated to the photo and attached it. For this user, that was the path of least resistance. Thanks again for your assistance. For this issue, the problem is definitely resolved.
