@ user id - logon access denied state
I have encountered this problem several times and I restart to eliminate the problem1. Setup 2 user ids - admin and user2. logon to admin - do work3. switch to user, logon, do work4. switch to admin; logon, do work5. switch to user; logon; logon fails with access denied; retry with a very careful entry of password; access denied displays, try several more times; system entersstate to verify user id and password and returns access denied6. choosereset password option, system displaysmessage indicates a USB driveor floppy drive is required.7. switch to admin and encounter same sequence of events as user8. rebootI then forget about second user. Onh an infrequent basis I can switch between users ids with no problem. There does not appear to be any pattern to the lock out of the user ids.

torbar - Just to clarify the sequence of events... When you switch between users - are you physicially logging off the Admin user and then logging in as the standard user? Or are you using fast user switching? Are you leaving apps open and running on either account when you switch?

1. do not logoff either user at any time - even on the restart I let the system log off the ids2. do not use the fast user switch - go from start menu3. last time - no apps open - user id (wife) primarily uses system for email and internet access but occassionally wll use office systems- admin (me) use numerous other apps. - no apps open is the most consistent state (95% of time)
