7100 64-bit - Can't detect any wireless networks
I installed 7100 64-bit a few days ago and my wireless adapter cannot seem to find any networks. It is a DLink DWA-552 N adapter. It is installed and recognized, and I've installed both the drivers from DLink's website as well as ones that Windows 7 automatically provides (both with and without the adapter software). This results in "No connections are available". I've also tried running the setup for the adapter software with Vista compatibility mode, still no luck. Anybody else have any suggestions? Ethernet works flawlessly though.

Have you hidden your SSID? If so, go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Network and Sharing Center > Set up a new connection or network > Manually Connect to a Wireless Network > Next. Type in the Network Name (SSID), select Security Type and type in the key. You may also want to tick Start this connection automatically and Connect even if the network is not > Next, etc.

Yup I tried that, same result. It's weird since it's not just my own that I can't see, but all other ones around me as well. I'm going to try installing an earlier build of Windows 7 and we'll see what happens.

Fixed!!!!! So I installed 7057 to see if maybe it was a 7100 problem, and it turns out it works on both. What I did was restart the WLAN AutoConfig service, and all of a sudden I could see a bunch of networks, and was able to connect to my own. I did this both on 7057 and 7100, worked for both. Great speed, no problems. I should mention that this is using the latest drivers that Windows provides (athryx.sys from DLink and vwifibus.sys from Windows), and not using the adapter software, although I think it would still work. I don't know if this is something I'll have to do every time I boot up, but at least I have it working now. Thanks for the input Burr.

UPDATE: So it seems I haven't actually solved the problem 100%. What happens is, that if I get it working (by restarting the WLAN AutoConfig service and/or enabling/disabling the adapter itself an indefinite number of times, and in any order), it will work perfectly but only until I either restart, shut down, or put the comp to sleep. Then, I have to play around with the service and the adapter again and I may or may not get it working again. It almost seems to work only by chance, as I was thinking maybe there is a certain order I have to do it by, meaning disable adapter first, then restart service, or restart service then enable the adapter, or etc. Sometimes I'll try for 30 minutes trying to get it working and it won't, and then another time I'll restart the service once and it'll work perfectly. So I haven't really pinpointed the actual source of the problem. But it is odd how I see posts of people having it working flawlessly when they do a fresh restart of the comp, then it drops after about 20 minutes. For me, if I get it working, it'll work flawlessly UNTIL I restart/shut down/sleep, then it won't work and I'll have to play around with the adapter/service to get it working again. Anyway I will update this thread if I discover more.
